Alright, thanks.

I am not very familiar with the parse api: could someone please give me a code
snippet that would:

A) simply pass through the source, including the source's caps

or 

B) search for first 0xFF byte in source, then pass through the rest of the
source stream, including the source's caps  

This would give me a better idea of how to build the actual parser.
