Hi Matthew,

I tried last week to hook a sync-bus handler only for the need-context message
on OS X but I was still getting some issues. It was a very quick test though
and in parallel I also had the async bus handler running which I am not sure if
this could cause some issues ( although I was not checking anymore inside the
async handler for the need-context msg just the state change logic ) . 

Do you think it would worth trying replacing the whole async bus handling with
a sync version??

In any case I will give a try on Linux with a sync bus handler and report back.
