I think it is useful to keep Python 2 support for macOS since it still doesn't
ship Python 3, and it would be strange to require Homebrew just for that.

It would be great if you could review the GitHub pull request; we can then move
the patch(es) to bugzilla and get them in. I've been a bit occupied lately. :/
