I would recommend you make a GST_DEBUG=*:6 log and then grep strategically. It
should show all the pads the query jumps through and what the result is.

Might also be worth checking if the duration query returns FALSE or if it
returns TRUE and then total=-1.

It's hard for us to help debug here without knowing the specific demuxer/parser
involved and having a file at hand.
