Can you try running totem with these environment variables:

$ CLUTTER_DRIVER=gles2 GST_GL_PLATFORM=egl totem file.mkv

??

It seems to be a workaround (use EGL rather than GLX), but I would like to know
if that fixes your case, because the artifacts are different.
