I'm an Ubuntu user and the first thing I had to do after installing 17.10 is
uninstall vaapi. Totem couldn't play any video at all (black screen). I didn't
report because it was so major I'm was sure you already had thousands of
reports. Haven't tested since the release,  maybe it got fixed already.
