Thx Philippe, I was about to suggest to compare with the radeon driver by
setting 
amdgpu.cik_support=0 amdgpu.si_support=0 radeon.cik_support=1
radeon.si_support=1 (in /etc/default/grub::GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT) but your
POLARIS card is too recent so only supported by the amdgpu driver.
