ok, my reported problem is the same thing, the buffer gets filled upfront and
then gets slowly emptied. seeking resets and clears the buffer completely.

I'll try to debug/hack this more some other time.

Maybe my gst-launch-1.0 example from above is reproducible on other machines if
someone else wants to :)
