OK, i noticed the extra options for ./configure.  Problem solved.

Next problem:

gstmarshal.[ch] didn't autogenerate so i manually executed the rules in Makefile.am.
This worked, but the files didn't compile until i manually added these includes to the
dot h file:

#include <gobject/gvaluetypes.h>
#include <gobject/gclosure.h>

Curious.
