OK, i installed libmpeg2 CVS and compiled the CVS varient of the plugin.
gst-player can play mpeg1 or mpeg2, but the playback isn't smooth at all.
It seems to go into PAUSE after less than 30 frames.  i can seek and hit
the play button again but then it goes back to PAUSE again after about 30
frames.  Any idea how to debug this?

I will update to current CVS and try again.  I'm about a week behind HEAD now.
