[gst-devel] What do I need to install

Hi!

I am working with a streaming application under RedHat 7.3, and
I need video and audio back-ends to test it.

I read the gstreamer manual some time ago and, as far as I can remember,
gstreamer can be used both for streaming of data and for playback.

What I am aiming at is to build my own streaming application and then
display the video and audio as it arrives at the receiving end by means of
gstreamer components. I want to do this by interfacing gstreamer in my
application, not by saving data to disk and then playing it by means of
some player shipped with gstreamer.

I would also like to build a parallell streaming application using only
gstreamer components and compare its performance against my system.

So I wonder what do I need to install of the many gstreamer packages, in
order to be able to build my projects? I am consulting gtreamer's web
pages, but I could use some help.
