Start with something simple, like AlienSong.  Make sure you have mpeg2dec 
installed and the plugin that depends on it.  Use gst-launch-ext to see if 
gstreamer itself has the necessary plugins for the file you want to play.

Not 100% sure, but I think libdivxdecore was the open source divx decoding 
implementation.  It's probably forked by avifile and included in their 
crappy releasy thingy ;)  same for ffmpeg.

Without	knowing more about your system and how you got avifile on it, I 
can't say what's going wrong.
