If you want to spend time on it, go ahead. I wouldn't do it myself, I
consider it more than good enough as it is. I'm not seeing any bug
reports right now.

I've thought about adding something so that - on a new version - it
automatically generates a new Makefile.am, but gave up after a while
(too hard right now)... If you can do that, it'd be great, but I
personally don't see some minor handwork once in a while as a major
problem.
