I've already thought about this, spider is really the showstoppper here,
but that isn't so much because of spider, but because elements before it
don't emit a discont event with the new_media flag set.

Once that's fixed (and properly implemented in spider), the above should
work fine. I'll try to get some basic testing done with this after (or
maybe during) guadec.
