That's fine.  I'm just using gst-launch as a proof of concept. 

I was hoping there would be a way to set the XID of the window in which
to embed in gstreamer xml, along with all of the other plugin
properties. 

I will continue using what I have working until the changes you're
talking about are mostly done.
