I think this require one more iteration as it's quite important:

Workarounds - this particular commit is a workaround - are only good for the 
stable branch to make users happy. The unstable branch should keep those 
errors - especially the annoying ones - without any workarounds for two reasons:
1) A workaround is a rather poor fix.
but more important:
2) It keeps on annoying us. And annoying things get fixed faster.

So never put a workaround in an unstable branch, please. Only put real fixes in 
there.
