I will add here some problems with gstreamer-player.
I've tested with several type of files : ogg, mp3, mpg, avi. Mkv
doesn't want to play at all. I have often a "file format not supported"
for avi files.

Same problem for me here !
I must also note following things :
- audio quality is bad on two differents computer for all gstreamer
related player. (mp3, ogg and movie files, not matter which format it
is). You need a good audio file with "difficult sound" (like classic
music) to hear it, but it's verry annoying : there's some crackling
every two or three second. No probleme with xine, mplayer, vlc or ogg123.
- playing a file take two second to start, no matter which format it is
(and for all player using gstreamer).
For example, puting several files in gstreamer-player playlist. There
will be a blank of three seconds between each file.
If I push the "play" button in rhythmbox, the button will remain 3
seconds grey before I hear anything.
Well, if you want me to try something or to send you the gdb output of
such things, please mail me, I want to help as much as I can..
