The testsuite needs 6 byte stream tests.

Some people in the extreme programming community argue that the test
case for this bug should have been written before the fix was done.
Where is a good place to at least note that short stream tests need to
be written?  Bugzilla?  ...For those of us who just suggest coding tasks
rather than working on them ;)
