    So it seems we are all agreed with the ideas of Wim. Now here is
the plan (courtesy of Ronald S. Bultje):

0.9: We drop the existing plugins and go the farsight path.
0.8: Keep the existing plugins and accept patches against it.

    Any objections, please shoot now.
