If you're writing a new application, you're better off trying it with
the 0.10 GStreamer that will be out on Monday. 0.10 will replace and
obsolete 0.8 as the new API stable GStreamer, and is a vast improvement.

There's a pre-release version (0.9.7) available at the moment at the
downloads page. http://gstreamer.freedesktop.org/download/

If you'd like, you can post a link to one of the broken images and we
can try it in 0.10 to check that the bug you're experiencing has
disappeared - although 'freeze' is yet to be ported (will probably
happen sometime this week)

Regards,
Jan.

It all works, but it limits Linux processes to a mere 512GB of virtual
address space. Such limits are irksome to the kernel developers when the
hardware can do more, and, besides, somebody is likely to release a web
browser or office suite which runs into that limit in the near future.
