This thread is rapidly approaching the point of no return.  Can we re-
focus on the task at hand ? We're discussing implementation here and I
don't think that's (yet) the point.  

a) Some person we don't really know yet (ie Jeff) has touched on
something that we don't currently have which we know we want.

b) Rather than bury him in shit we could start the discussion at the
beginning

c) Which he is suggesting we do, by asking "if we had a status table,
what would we want in it ?"

So can we drop the namecalling and implementation details until we have
discussed and possibly agreed on what we want from a status table of
plugins ?
