Yep, I gave Thoggen a shot on this same DVD and it also seems to
deadlock after about 6 hours (always at the same place).  I'm still
trying to put together more info on what's happening.

By the way, when I try to update my working copy of thoggen, I get
this now:

    $ cvs -z3 up
    cvs [update aborted]: unrecognized auth response from cvs.thoggen.net:
    M PserverBackend::PserverBackend() Connect (Connection refused)
