you really should have started an extra-thread for this message.

qt as in trolltech?
there is no problem using it. if you plan to use gstreamer with threads, read
http://gstreamer.freedesktop.org/data/doc/gstreamer/stable/manual/html/section-threads-constraints.html

you shold fire a QTimer::singleShot in gstreamer-callbacks, if you need to 
handle them in the ui.

if it was about qt as in apple, i can't help.

that's all i know about it for now.
