[gst-devel] Manipulating tags from scripts

How can I read tags and write them, using gst-launch?
The furthest I've gotten until now is to use:

 gst-launch -t <filename> ! decodebin ! fakesink

but the -t flag makes me nervous, the format is a bit inconvenient, the
extraction takes a long time (it seems that the whole file is read), and it
doesn't give me any hint how I'd write those tags.

Any idea?
