if you give me pointers on where to start...

what is needed basically I guess is the list of all element properties
that need to be investigated when de-constructing and re-constructing an
element structure, in general, this would be:

- the name of each element
- list of children
- list of pads and ghost pads
- connection for each pad

anything else?
