Hi Gao, Yan

Use the following command to see why your plugin is not loading

gst-inspect --gst-debug=GST_PLUG*:5 <your plugin name>

Thanks

I have one plugin, and when I use gst-inspect, this plugin can't
register.

How can I investigate this problem?

Thanks! =20

In 0.10 chain functions never receive anything else but buffers, so that
block of code is never executed. You need to set up a sink event
function and do the forwarding there.

No idea about the second issue (maybe it disappears after you fix the
first one).

Learn about the GST_DEBUG environment variable and use it.

Start with GST_DEBUG=3D*:5 gst-inspect > out 2>&1 and read through the

As Tim noted, this is wrong, you want this in an event-handling
function, not in your chain function. However, once you've moved it
there, you ALSO need to ref the event before forwarding it to each pad,
something like (pseudocode follows); foreach pad:
   ref(event)
   forward(event)
 unref(event)

In vague terms, "any upstream element". To be more concrete, the source
element should definately be sending one, and then other elements
downstream could conceivably catch it and transmogrify it. The purpose
of the new segment event is to tell the rest of the pipeline more things
about the data flow that it's going to send from that on; for example,
which is the important data and which should be ignored (by giving a
data range in time or bytes, ie the "segment"), what speed it should
play at, ...

If this is in your _chain function - events are now handled in a
specific sink_event function instead.

There's a lot of unknowns to answer the question just by looking at
code. For example, does your channel splitter's signal callback get
fired from the streaming thread ? If it doesn't, your streaming thread
may happily be pushing buffers over the cliff like lemmings before you
link something to the pad. Just an example of course.

If I were you, I"d be adding some g_print's to my chain functions to see
timestamps and hence see where it starts going wrong.

I suspect this may be the case, as the splitter is receiving the
new-segment event, and is passing it on, but these events never make it
to the sink either.

The splitter is linked into the pipeline in the new-decoded-pad signal
of the decodebin, and once it receives its caps in the set_caps function
it creates the new pads. I would assume those all occur in the streaming
thread, but I could be wrong.

What would the best course of action be? For the splitter to store up
buffers that it needs to pass onto the sink when all the pads have been
created? Stopping the streaming thread somehow until all the pads are
created?

thanks
iain

Hello,

Two places don't have the match of md5 that is causing our FreeBSD ports

Unless the VNC protocol has changed since the last time I was working
with
it, VNC does NOT support sound. (Sound and printing are probably the 2
biggest requests for extensions to the VNC protocol.)

So, with VNC, only graphics get sent to the remote machine. No sound.

See ya
