[gst-devel] Want to add some stuff to RTSP plugin, looking for minimal set to get started.

Hi all.
I am new to GStreamer.
I am going to develop an application, receiving video stream from the RTSP protocol and
storing in to disk.
Quick look at the GStreamer has shown that it gives the error and stops, when receives
the code 302 (Moved temporarily) from a server.
I would like to add the capability to handle this status to the respective plugin.

What is the minimal set of requirements which my computer must meet that 
I could successfully develop this?

Currently I am sitting on windows XP, I have MinGW, Cygwin and MS Visual Studio 2005.
I also have an access to a FreeBSD computer.

My application also should be cross-platform
