The editor has been mostly unmaintained since 0.6, although some
work was done to make it work with 0.8.  It's generally believed
that it would be best to rewrite it from scratch, and there was
a GSoC project last year to do exactly that, and although there
was some headway, it's not possible to edit pipelines.

Since no current developer has picked it up in several years, it
seems reasonable that there isn't a need for it in the current
developer community.  So it will likely be a new developer, if any,
that starts working on it.
