Don't try specific pipelines,just use playbin2, have gst-plugins-ugly and
gst-plugins-bad installed and have some version of realplayer installed for the
codecs.

if you use gst-launch-0.10 -m playbin2 uri=....

you should also see if there is a message about a missing plugin.
