Number of spect_bands in spectrum element

Hello 

I am using the spectrum element. My pipeline is slowed down a lot (like 2 to
10 times slower) when I use some "spect_bands" values and not other :
for example, with AUDIOFREQ = 44100, spect_bands = 10000 or 1000 works
perfectly; 5000 makes it very slow, 5010 also, but 5020 doesn't... 7000
makes it slower, 2000 faster than 5000 but still slower than normal...
Values that are 44100 divided by a multiple of 2 seem to work...

Is there an optimal number of frequency bands ("spect_bands") tu be used?
