Brief summary of GSoC 2012 project with Gstreamer

Dear all,

I am honoured to work with Gstreamer and have learnt a lot from you guys, especially from my mentor. As this year's GSoC project is ending soon, here I present a short summary of this project for your info. 
The project was firstly proposed to develop a gst plugin to detect natural hand gestures such like fists and palms, thus the detected gestures can be used to control media playbacks or any other interactive operations. Its aims were to 1) detect selected hand gestures accurately and efficiently, 2) make a test app for demo and 3) make sure this plugin is useful to vast gst developers in interactive media dev by providing this dedicated hand gesture detection plugin. 
According to the plan, these aims have been perfectly realised in the plugin in the repo 
https://github.com/yandol/GstHanddetect  - although some additional features such like navigation event sending and handling may need further updates because of future gst core patches for hand-detect events. If fortunate enough, the fully functional hand gesture detection plugin will be appearing in the next release of gst.
My future plans, will try to add some more hand gestures, and if possible, to integrate depth sensor-based gesture detections for more interesting and interactive media dev.
