question on typefind function

I am working in a situation where my input stream may be formatted in
either MP2T or RTP. Currently, the existing app only supports MP2T so it
doesn't signal the protocol. In the near future my new version will support
both of those. Should/can the typefind function in udpsrc determine which
of those protocols is in use? My tests have so far all failed.
