The PMT does not contain specific field for encoder type, as far as I
understand from the description here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Program-specific_information
Maybe it is "stream type" inside PMT
http://www.etherguidesystems.com/Help/SDOs/MPEG/semantics/mpeg-2/stream_type.aspx
But It is not seem the same as encoding type.
