How to run a 2-to-1 element

I tried the following and got 

gst-launch videotestsrc pattern=snow ! ntoone name=n n.video_sink n.src !
autovideosink --gst-debug-level=3

basesrc gstbasesrc.c:2519:gst_base_src_loop:<videotestsrc0> pausing after
gst_pad_push() = wrong-state
