Frame buffer with sdk

I was wondering if it is possible to utilize a frame received callback in
GStreamer SDK without displaying to the screen, and was thinking that some
kind of video sink would be the answer. However, I'm not sure if that's the
correct path. What I'd like to end up with is an image buffer from a IP
camera to pass to another component in my project. Thanks in advance.
