Begging For Help

I don't need to set the pipeline to PLAYING. I DON'T want to set the pipeline
to PLAYING! This is my question. I am using gst-launch, I want to continue
using gst-launch, it's great for demonstration purposes. I am using the Base
Sink class. How do I prevent the pipeline from going to the PLAYING state?
