The Readme says:

if gcc is used as the compiler, libstdc++ version 4.5 or later is
required at runtime. This is due to a bug in earlier versions of libstdc++ that
sometimes makes dynamic_cast fail under conditions where it should not.

When i get it to build it gets an assert error because the dynamic cast returns a null pointer. Seems there should be a way to code around the dynamic_cast issue so that you don't have to replace the apple compiler, but i don't know enough about c++ to know how to do that.
