Alternative to shmsrc, IPC on Microsoft Windows

Looking into IPC methods for getting video into a pipeline I found shmsrc,
however that doesn't work on Microsoft Windows as I believe it is POSIX
based. What options are there? UDP doesn't seem like a very good solution.
