Problem with the video effects example from documentation (Chapter 19)

Hello,

I'm having problem to make work the example that is in the documentation
here:
http://gstreamer.freedesktop.org/data/doc/gstreamer/head/manual/html/section-dynamic-pipelines.html

I'm using this version of Gstreamer




*$ gst-inspect-1.0 --versiongst-inspect-1.0 version 1.2.2GStreamer
1.2.2http://www.archlinux.org/ <http://www.archlinux.org/>*

the example intends is to chage the video effect every  1 second, but when
it changes the first time from IDENTITY effect to EXCLUSION effect the
video freezes.

It doesn't work with gstreamer 1.2.1 (archlinux or ubuntu) or Git version
(1.3)

Some one can help me with this?
