All that being said, I'm comfortable enough with the command line that if I can do this on the command line with gst-launch, I may very well just do that. But if gst-launch is a testing tool, it should not fail where the API does not.
I didn't say that a pipeline that works in an application wouldn't
work with gst-launch.
