Buffer Timestamping and matching the buffer running time to GstClock of pipeline

Hi,
    I have question in my mind 
 
    (i) Gstpipeline will maintain it owns clock and distribute it to all the
elements of the pipeline

    (ii) Now in my case i will timestamp  the buffers with PTS got from the
application like 0,30,66,150 etc. So how do i match this buffer timestamp to
gstclock running time which keeps on increasing monotonically?

   (iii) I think whatever given in 
       http://cgit.freedesktop.org/gstreamer/gstreamer/tree/docs/design is
already implemented in gst elements like source,decoder,sink etc and we need
not do anything in application.
