Fwd: Distortion with all things gstreamer and jack

Thank you for that pointer Sebastian. So Chrome uses ffmpeg.
mpv (mplayer fork) does not exhibit this distortion ever. It uses libav,
so apparently this may not be a gstreamer issue at all.
Still, any ideas what to look for? I'm stumped.
