Reasons for losing a clock?

And that's exactly when it happens - when I change the state to PAUSED, the
clock is selected and lost.

Yes, I know it is hard to find the issue without a test case, I created a
simple test application creating the same pipeline, but it works.  I can't
figure out what the difference between those applications is...

When I change the state to PLAYING, the video sink complains about the
missing clock:
