I think you are finding a solution to set limitation of memory usage while you play something by gstreamer.
Currently, as I know, gstreamer seems not to have any memory control logic for its pipeline.
Therefore, the solution of your question would be outside of gstreamer.
(If I am wrong, please correct me.)

In my opinion, cgroup (aka control groups) might be helpful for you, it’s little complex though.
