KLV Metadata

My version of GStreamer:
gst-inspect-1.0 version 1.2.4
GStreamer 1.2.4
Same applies to tsdemux version.

What is the easiest way to update from current version to version 1.6 or
higher.

I have tried to install the latest version, but while checking the version
of gstreamer after install completing, it still shows version 1.2.4.
