vaapi permission issue inside rtsp server

I am trying to add a vaapienc_h264 based pipeline to my python3 rtsp server.

I get following error:



my launch description for the rtsp server looks like this:



I added myself to the video group. The same pipeline piped to a udpsink
works without any problems.
The difference is that va_getDriverName() returns 0 on the second try...





/vainfo:/ (I am not running an x server ;))



I am on CentOS7
