ximagesrc xid not rendering

Hi,

I'm trying to stream a window (e.g. Chrome):
gst-launch-1.0 ximagesrc xid=0x03400001 use-damage=false ! videoconvert !
autovideosink

and instead of getting the full window, I'm getting black bars around it:

I had recently done an apt-get dist-upgrade and rebooted, but I'm not sure
if that is related.  I'm running Ubuntu 16.04 with kernel
4.13.0-041300-generic.  I tried gstreamer both 1.8.3 (the version with
Ubuntu), and 1.12.2.

If I grab the entire desktop, that renders fine.  Any ideas?
