nvidia hardware acceleration

Hi all,

I have 4.15.3 -ml kernel with GT218 ION and NVIDIA 340.106 installed. X is
running and showing nvidia driver loaded.

When I play a video using totem/gstreamer the CPU takes greater than 100%
cpu and freezes at times. I thinking I am "not" using the hardware
acceleration on the NVIDIA ION.

How do I determine that I am not using the hardware acceleration then
how do I find out what I am missing so the hardware acceleration works.
