upgrading to 1.12.4

Hi Tim.

We were setting up logging to do the trace and inadvertently turned off logging and the chain work. 

From that view point we found that if GST_DEBUG=4 or less it works as expected. If it is set to 5 or greater the results are what I reported.
It appears the logging is causing the issue.  Is there further data I can give? We are going to move forward with the logging turned off.

Why did you attach that particular log file snippet? Is there anything in there that looks suspicious to you?
