Can't located plugin on Ubuntu 18.04

Thanks Martin,

That got me looking in the right place. I did rebuild it on 18.04 and now
gst_plugin_desc is being defined as a local and isn't exported from the
library. Do you know what might have changed int the headers (since that
function is defined using a macro) that could result in that? Or is there an
additional requirement that was added that I might have missed?
